Christians that attack Christmas and Easter as pagan holidays, usually go to churches that make a big to-do about New Year's day, Mother's Day, Father's Day, and the Fourth of July. The annual cycle in America is truly becoming paganized. The Baalism of nationalism that commemorates the victories of the nation and celebrates all kinds of political "saints" (George Washington, Martin Luther King Jr., Christopher Columbus, etc.) is in the process of replacing the festivals of the church commemorating the life and work of Jesus Christ and the triumphs of his Church in history. ~ Jeff Meyers
One of my favorite articles on my favorite time of year. Read the whole series and get rid of some old sacred cows, silly myths, and your inner scrooge, starting here:

Sam, thanks for posting these.. There seems to be a lot of contention on this issue in reformed circles. I know several who oppose Christmas, for a lot of the reasons/objections given in this article..Even to the point of saying you are on your way to hell!!! What is crazy, is the look on their faces when you share Calvin and Luther's view on Christmas.. These very same people who denounce Christmas and those who embrace it.. Essentially condemn Calvin and Luther to hell..
Thanks to more of a reformed perspective we have made it more of a Christ Centered Holiday instead of me oriented…which can easily happen.. So we are diffidently more conscious of this then in years past…And celebrate it differently in some respects. It is really all about balance, good historical and biblical interpretation.

Thanks Bill. i think a lot of what Pastor Meyers says is just good ol' common\Bible sense, if it's just thought through. Too many Christians are "too willing to give away the farm" when it comes to thoses things that God has given to us.
All things are yours, whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or the present or the future--all are yours, and you are of Christ, and Christ is of God.
